This product has a different formulation than the regular Miracle toothpaste. Specifically designed for sensitive teeth, it penetrates the root surface, and promotes the nerve in the root to lay down additional dentine around itself, creating a barrier between mouth fluid temperature, like cold water or hot coffee, and the nerve itself. The directions to use this are a little different than regular toothbrushing. You want to squeeze some toothpaste in between the teeth, and next, use a Stimudent® purchased in packs from an over-the-counter pharmacy toothbrush section, or online, (eg. Amazon), and rub or burnish the toothpaste into the sides of the roots where they are exposed. For the front surface of the exposed root, just rub the wider end of the Stimudent, which is covered with the toothpaste,  onto the root. Rub for about one to two minutes, This gets the paste into the tiny open microscopic tubules at the root surface. As the nerve lays down more dentine tooth structure in response to the stimulation of rubbing the toothpaste onto the exposed root, the microscopic openings will become blocked to the outside hot and cold fluids and the patient will have relief from some or all of the sensitivity. This sensitivity reduction may take as long as 4 months, especially after periodontal surgery and exposure of roots. But it is quite effective over time for most people.
